Energy Changes starts research on smart energy neighbourhoods

Energy Changes is proud to announce that it has been selected for support within the Call Smart Vienna 2012 of the Research Programme financed by the City of Vienna. In the coming year, Energy Changes will – in cooperation with TEMAPLAN GmbH work on the project “Energiemodell Grätzl+ Das Energie4tel” (Energy model for a Neighbourhood). The main objective of this project is to develop an energy model which facilitates the planning of new “smart” city districts with regards to a sustainable and resource efficient energy supply.

On November 15th the kick-off meeting of the R&D project “Heat Saver Demo” took place in Berlin, a project funded by FP7, the EU’s 7th framework programme for research and technological development. The project partners come from Germany (B&O Gebäudetechnik GmbH, ZeoSys Zeolite Systems, Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology), Estonia (Dvigatel Regital) and Austria (Energy Changes).

Energy Changes  was awarded a contract by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for a feasibility study about the improvement of community level energy access for rural areas in British Guyana. The consortium led by ConPlusUltra GmbH will conduct its first site visit in British Guyana this Autumn.

The wind farm Kosava will be implemented in two phases and is supposed to have an installed capacity of 123 MW by 2013. The annual electricity generation is expected to be more than 400,000 MWh, which will be fed into the Serbian grid, thus replacing electricity from coal power plants.This will result in emission reductions of more than 450,000 tons of CO2.

Together with the wind projects Cibuk 1 and Plandiste it was the first CDM project approved by the Serbian DNA.
